This morning all of the children at Next Generation were able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Yay no rain, although the rain did arrive again in the afternoon. We got to have so much fun inside and outside with all of our friends! We hope you enjoy our Smilebox photos that have captured some of our precious moments....

Next Generation Childcare, 30 July 2008

Celebrating birthdays at Next Generation Childcare is a big event. A birthday hat is made at Next Generation Childcare and parents bring in a cake. The child chooses the story and songs that are going to be sung at morning mat time and we have a really great time.
Today we had a special 5th birthday where the child has painted his/her treasured picture to take home.

Today at Next Generation we celebrated Ethan and Aiden's 3rd birthday. The boys chose 3 songs each for mat time. Aiden chose 3 Blind Jellyfish, God of Nations (long version) and Everyone clap - Ethan chose 3 Blind Jellyfish, 5 Little men in their flying saucers and the Statue game. For two of the songs the boys each chose friends to take part with them.

We then sang Happy Birthday to the boys and gave Aiden 3 fairy claps and Ethan 3 Crocodile claps before going outside into the carpark for cake that Raymond and Heather brought in. Thanks it was yummy :-)

Next Generation Childcare, Thursday 24th July

Today has been another inside/outside, back and forth kind of day. The rain was great because some very muddy rain puddles were discovered by some very enthusiastic 4 year old boys. Our new friend Amelia has become an active participant in our ICT journey and has today tried her hand at photography. Eva and Emma learnt about perseverance when they both got stuck going up the hill on their bikes.

Links between home and our programmes at Next Generation Childcare are important. The environment, routines, people, and happenings within and around a home provide opportunities for the spontaneous learning which is a feature of our day at Next Generation Childcare.

Next Generation Childcare 22nd July 2008

This is an interesting experiece... doing Next Generations daily diary without photographic evidence to support it (our camera batteries have all died - maybe from over use). Our children have all been very busy and considering we have been inside most of the day they have coped extremely well!!!!
We had some yummy cupcakes made by the children this morning for afternoon tea and we enjoyed a cool train story/CD that Joel brought in to Next Generation - it is his favrourite.
There was lots of bright colourful paint happening in the art room to brighten our day and the older children learnt a lot about who has the longest name, how important it is to share and the four year old group have been concentrating on how the NZ army helps people and how they can also help people, especially those in their families. While we enjoy these nice and cosy days inside I think by the end of it we will all be hoping that we can get outside a little bit more tomorrow.

Next Generation Childcare, July 17th.

Today is a very sad day for us all at Next Generation because two of our friends are leaving us. Quavahn is a big 5 year old now and he's off to school on Monday and James is going overseas with his family for a while.

We will miss both of you boys and we wish you and your families all of the very best for the future.

Another busy day at Next Generation. The children continue to create mosaic's and are still carrying on with there beautiful block building.
With our new project on 'Our Body' we have been making books that show different parts of the body. The books titled 'Whose leg is it?' 'Whose arm is it?' and 'Whose face is it?'. All the children love to help with the laminating and binding.

Wow the first week of the school holidays is almost over and we have had lots of wonderful big school children here to visit. Today we have had lots of fun with puppet shows, messy play, sand, block building, story book writing, dancing, puzzles and even a special Barbie movie.

Next Generation Childcare Company Ltd. Wednesday 9 July 2008. With fine (but cold) weather we still had alot of fun playing outside. 'Rob the Nest' still remaining a favourite at Next Generation. Muffin cooking today with all the children wanting to help and all enjoyed them at morning teatime.
