Hi from Maree
Hi Everybody, Jes and I are having an exciting time in LA. The conference has been much more worth while than I expected. We are buzzing with ideas and the trade fair is amazing. Most of it we see at home these days so I don't feel deprived. I am in an exciting workshop about using wikis, but the draw of the free internet was too strong to resist.
We came two days early and we went to Disneyland on Halloween, I loved seeing everyone all dressed up, whole families as pirates and Buz Lightyear, the list goes on. Jes made me go on the Space Mountain ride. I hate rollor coasters, but it was done up especially for halloween, so lots of monsters jumping out. I hope you had a great Guy Fawkes, Its great to be able to see everyone on the blog, I always get homesick after a few days.

Newsletter 1st October 2010
1st October 2010
Dear Parents
I guess everyone is like us and looking forward to warmer weather. It seems to have been winter forever.
We have had two new babies arrive since our last newsletter, Laila has a new sister Livia and Ethan Ring also has a new sister Mikayla. Congratulations.
Louise, Maddie, Jes and I are off to Ulearn10, a large conference in Christchurch next week. Louise and I are presenting on Transition to School and Jes and Maddie are presenting on ways to use ICT with Infants. It’s all very exciting, I hope the earthquake tremors are over.
The Commonwealth Games are also about to start, it seems to be off to a very bad start, but we would love pictures from the paper etc to add to our news wall, some of the coverage is on during centre time so we may be able to watch some of it live. These world events are a great time to scrub up on our national anthem and patriotism.
We are also having changes at the over two centre, Rachel is finishing on the 12th of October. We have enjoyed having Rachel at Next Gen, her children have been a part of the centre and husband Ernie has been great help with the barbeques, we wish her well for the future.
Could I ask you all to check that lost property basket, it is overflowing with unnamed clothing.
I have had a few emails asking about closing times at Christmas, as usual we will close at 3pm on the 24th of December, but will be open on 29th, 30 and 31st, but you will not be charged if you are absent during these three days. We will then be reopen for normal business on the 5th of January 2011.
I will ask you for attendance plans closer to Christmas.
Our Christmas Party date has not been set yet, I will confirm that soon.
I need some sunshine before I can think about Christmas.

Today was Lukes first day at Next Generation. He enjoyed watching the fish and the frog. We decided to clean the tanks today, so the children helped with this. We have also had the proscope out looking at our hands and also a blue ladybug that we found. The children had fun with water play today, since we had such a fine day :)

Ayu uses google earth to show us her home.
This morning our wonderful student Ayu used Google Earth on our big screen to show us her country, her hometown and even her house! Ayu then took us on a journey around the world to Auckland, New Zealand. We love using Google Earth to visit places of interest. Where do you think we should visit next?
